Hinayana 202: Hinayana Path and Fruition – 2022

Sat., October 22, 2022
9:00 am - 10:30 am

Co-Hosted by Nalandabodhi Seattle & Nalandabodhi Vancouver

ON ZOOM:  Saturdays, September 10 – December 17, 2022, 9:00 am – 10:30 am PT

With its core Study Curriculum, Nalandabodhi has translated and adapted traditional Buddhist studies for Western students. Students progress sequentially through Buddhist philosophical schools, from foundational Hinayana precepts to Mahayana concepts of bodhichitta and buddha nature.  Each course builds on the previous, resulting in an increasingly complex and subtle view.

Also known as the “foundational vehicle”, Hinayana is the first vehicle of the three-yana system of study – Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana. It is the basis for entering the path as taught in Vajrayana traditions. The second course in the series, Hinayana 202, describes the path itself and its fruition.

The curriculum materials for the classes draw primarily from the teachings of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. In the U.S. the curriculum can be purchased from the Nalanda Store.   Texts for both courses – HIN 201 and HIN 202 – can be ordered separately or together.

In Canada, please contact Doug Ellis at drellis99@yahoo.com to purchase texts.

Sal Tufano began a Dharma path seven years ago in Boulder, Colorado at Naropa University, with a masters degree in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism. His path has continued through the study and meditation programs offered by Nalandabodhi and Nitartha Institute.  He has been a student of Ponlop Rinpoche since November of 2016.

Sal has spent the last four years on the Nalandabodhi International Senior Administrative Team doing strategy and financial work. He has contributed to some key mandala projects like acquiring the Contemplative Resource Center in Texas and the ongoing Digital Content Delivery project.
