Four classes beginning Sunday, Oct. 25. All welcome!
“You must listen from the heart like you listen to music.” — Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche
Life is a path of relationships. When we listen from the heart, our rigid points of view will soften. With compassion rather than judgment toward natural human reactions, we can become curious about what triggers us—and how those moments may lead us away from our own best interests and caring for each other.
“Listening with the Heart” will meet onsite at Maitrivana every second Sunday morning (10 am to 12 noon) starting October 25.
Facilitator Susan Gillis Chapman will lead the class in exploring how the teachings on the Five Buddha Families can help us better understand our styles of communication, how we open and close, and what happens in between.
Please note: Participants are asked to attend the first session (and subsequent ones), to fully benefit from the teachings.
Pre-Registration is appreciated (below). Or drop into the first session on Sunday, Oct. 25.
About the Facilitator: Susan Chapman has been on the Buddhist path since 1974. She studied with Chogyam Trungpa and Thrangu Rinpoche and is now a student of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.
Susan has an MA in Buddhist and Western Psychology from Naropa University, which included a three-month retreat focused on the Five Buddha Families. As a family therapist, she later applied these teachings to relationship patterns. Her book, The Five Keys to Mindful Communication, offers examples of the approach she will use in these classes.
