Join us in celebrating Lhabab Düchen and the consecration of Khenchen Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche’s stupa at Tek Chok Ling Nunnery (Nepal)
The holiday of Lhabab Düchen commemorates Buddha Shakyamuni’s descent from the heavenly realm of Tushita back to the human realm. The Buddha went to Tushita to teach his mother, Mayadevi, who passed away seven days after his birth and was reborn among the pure realms.
To repay her kindness, to liberate her and benefit the gods, Buddha spent three months teaching Abhidharma in Tushita Heaven. Then he descended to earth to continue teaching the dharma in the human realm.
We look forward to coming together at Maitrivana, in heart and mind, to celebrate this most auspicious occasion. Mitra Tyler Dewar will offer remarks (online from Seattle).
Sunday morning schedule
10 am: Meditation (sitting & walking)
11 am: Remarks by Mitra Tyler Dewar, Songs of Realization, & Liturgy
12 pm: Vegetarian potluck lunch
VENUE: Maitrivana, 4610 Earles St., Vancouver BC
Virtuous activities are especially beneficial on Lhabab Düchen. Karma is said to be multiplied innumerable times this day — hence a great opportunity for dharma practice! Offerings are encouraged for the benefit of gathering merit and virtue. Fresh fruit, flowers, and goodies for the shrine, as well as potluck contributions, are most welcome.
This Lhabab Düchen will also celebrate the consecration of the stupa built to honour Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche’s beloved Guru, Khenchen Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche (KTGR). The stupa is located at KTGR’s Tek Chok Ling Nunnery in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Know this life to be like a dream.

Aspire to be of benefit to others. – KTGR
