The Head of Meditation: Devotion in the Three Yanas
with Mitra Lee Worley
5:00pm – 6:30pm Pacific Time
MRC invites you to The Head of Meditation, a discussion on devotion. Our beloved Mitra Lee will lead us in an exploration of devotion in the three yanas, beginning in the Hinayana when we take refuge in the three jewels. She will walk us through how it changes and develops in the Mahayana and then again in the Vajrayana, along the way diffusing commonly held misperceptions, such as “little me – big guru”, that often hinder us from uncovering our true heart of devotion. There will be time for discussion and questions.
The talk will be recorded and the recording will be made available to participants.
If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All are welcome!
About the Teacher
Mitra Lee’s early career was in theater and the arts, and it was through this that she discovered Buddhism. In 1973, she attended a theater conference in Boulder, and was invited to teach acting at Naropa Institute. While teaching, she began studying and meditating with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Naropa’s founder. In 1975 Trungpa Rinpoche asked Lee to head Naropa’s Theater Studies Department, and she was a professor of Theater and Contemplative Education there until her recent retirement. Lee met Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche at Naropa and became his student. After serving in a number of positions for Nalandabodhi, she was appointed Mitra (spiritual friend) in 2005. She currently oversees the Path of Meditation with the Mitra Council. Read more
