“What is the practice of mindfulness? It is to settle our mind on something, to closely focus our mind, and to closely relate our mind to understanding the experience of the true nature of our body, our feelings, our mind, and all phenomena.” – Buddhism 104, by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche
Curious about Buddhism? Wondering about taming your mind? A Nalandabodhi study group is a great place to start … and to carry on.
Nalandabodhi’s in-person study groups are friendly and interactive. Facilitated by experienced dharma practitioners, these courses draw on profound yet accessible texts by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, the spiritual friend and founder of Nalandabodhi.
Buddhism 104: The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is the final course in our Introduction to Buddhism study series. The class meets every second Saturday morning. This class has been running for a while, but is still open to newcomers.
The introductory series lay the groundwork for more advanced Buddhist study while offering helpful advice on applying dharma in your life.
Buddhism 104 gives a comprehensive overview of this fundamental Buddhist mindfulness practice. The Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Mindfulness of Body, Feelings, Mind, and Phenomena) are taught from two perspectives: The foundational approach and Mahayana’s vast and profound approach. The course concludes with a discussion of the Three Turnings of the Wheel of Dharma , the Buddhist path, and the true nature of our mind.
