“What is the nature of our mind? The basic state of our mind is pure and free from all kinds of bondage and hang-ups … It is open, spacious, and relaxed awareness, a vivid experience of being wide awake without centre or fringe, as boundless as the sky . . .” – Buddhism 102, by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche
Curious about Buddhism? Wondering about taming your mind? The path of wisdom and contentment? A Nalandabodhi study group is a great place to start (and to carry on …)
Buddhism 102: Traveling from Confusion to Original Wisdom meets every second Saturday morning. All are welcome, newcomers and seasoned dharma students alike.
Nalandabodhi’s introductory series lay the groundwork for more advanced Buddhist study while offering helpful advice on applying dharma in your life.
Introduction to Buddhism 102 begins with a discussion of the Buddhist triad of goal, path, and fruition. The course then examines the Buddha’s first teachings on the Four Noble Truths: the Truth of Suffering, the Origin of Suffering, the Cessation of Suffering, and the Path. We then explore teachings on emotions: how to view and understand emotions. as well as a three-step method for working with them.
Our in-person study groups are friendly and interactive. Facilitated by experienced dharma practitioners, the course draws on profound yet accessible texts by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, the spiritual friend and founder of Nalandabodhi.
