“In the Mahayana-Vajrayana tradition it is said that we first communicate with mind’s basic nature – the continuity of inseparable clarity and emptiness – in shamatha meditation.” – Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche
Knowing Oneself Level 1 is a 5-session course for beginners and anyone wishing to refresh their meditation practice. The last class is Mon., April 13 (7 pm to 8:30 pm).
Please note: The next shamatha course — Knowing Oneself Level 2 — begins Mon., June 1 and runs every Monday in June.
Nalandabodhi’s path of meditation begins with shamatha or calm-abiding meditation. This class explores various shamatha methods, each one progressively enhancing your experience of calm-abiding. By this means, you create a reliable ground of meditation by taming the mind and building an aptitude for engaging with the profound wisdom of dharma. Basic connections with breath, counting breath and working with focal objects will be explored.
