Losar — Tibetan New Year — is a time for renewal, reflection, and recommitment to dharma practice
All are welcome to join the Vancouver sangha and our special guests: Lama Rabten, Acharya Tashi, and Acharya Lhakpa, for Losar celebrations on Wednesday, Feb., 18, onsite at Maitrivana.
For our onsite program
We will be tuning-in to the webcast from our Nalandabodhi headquarters, Nalanda West, based in Seattle. The live-stream program will include liturgies, a Losar address by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Mitra Dean Mark Power, Mitra Tyler, followed by an onsite social gathering with goodies and refreshments.
The schedule: TBA
But it will most likely look something like the following (below). Please check back to this page closer to the date for the updated schedule.
Losar practice & addresses by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Mitra Dean Mark Power, Mitra Tyler (in English): 7 am – 9 am
Sangha social gathering (onsite): 9 am – 10 am
Collective clean-up: 10 am – 11 am
Gift-giving
Offering gifts is customary at Losar. You are invited to bring offerings for the shrine (fruit, sweet treats, flowers . . .)
Monetary offerings
Monetary offerings to the lineage, however small, are also encouraged. You may make an online offering HERE. Envelopes and khatas will be provided at Maitrivana. Losar is certainly an auspicious time to practice generosity and appreciation for the Three Jewels.
We look forward to practicing with you in the New Year!
