Join us this December to meditate and receive Dharma teachings from Acharya Tashi and Lama Rabten. Onsite at Maitrivana and via Zoom
Retreat dates are Friday, Dec. 26 to Monday, Dec. 29, with a special Lamp Offering practice on Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve. Please see below for daily schedule.
Lama Rabten’s teaching topic will be Eight Kinds of Mastery.
Milarepa’s Songs of Realization are mystical poems composed by the 11th-century Tibetan yogi Milarepa, primarily in the form of dohas or mgur bum (The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa). These songs are spontaneous, song-like compositions that convey profound teachings on meditation, Buddhist philosophy (like Mahamudra), and the path to enlightenment through a blend of spiritual wisdom and personal experience. They often describe his life, retreats in nature, and the practical aspects of the spiritual journey, offering inspiration for practitioners.
Acharya Tashi’s teaching topic will be Parting from the Four Attachments.
“The Mind-Training of Parting from the Four Attachments” is a core Tibetan Buddhist mind-training (Lojong) teaching that emphasizes letting go of four specific attachments to overcome suffering.
This teaching, originating from the Sakya tradition and given to Sachen Kunga Nyingpo by the Bodhisattva Manjushri, provides a path to gain wisdom and liberation by cultivating non-attachment.
